The V\u00f5ru Museum (V\u00f5ru County Museum) consists of a museum and an Art Gallery. We are part of V\u00f5ro Institute and work as a research centre for the history of V\u00f5ru County, we organize children programs and our exhibitions give an overview of the culture, history and art of the V\u00f5ru region and beyond. Our collection gathers more than 60 000 items.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Exhibition<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our exhibition provides a deep overview of the history of the V\u00f5ru County: it presents numerous rare archaeological artefacts since the Stone Ages, documents and historical items from the Middle Ages, developments in the Modern era and the history of 20th Century with a focus on culture, war and Forest Brothers in the 1940s-1950s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can also find an overview of the history of V\u00f5ro Language that is a Finno-Ugric language different from Estonian and widely spoken in the V\u00f5ro region. Our exhibition also offers an opportunity to learn about smoke sauna tradition in the V\u00f5ru region, which has been recognised as a part of the UNESCO World Heritage List.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our main exhibition is on the 3rd floor of the building. Unfortunately, it is not accessible via an elevator. Our exhibition has mostly Estonian and Russian texts, but we provide an audioguide in English, Estonian and V\u00f5ro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Art Gallery<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our art gallery offers a new exhibition in every two months, bringing the height of Estonian art scene to V\u00f5ru. Our exhibitions present modern creators, V\u00f5ru artists and occasionally overviews of older art connected to V\u00f5ru area. The art gallery is located on the 2nd floor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
